OmmWriter is a fullscreen writing environment which includes changeable background image, music and keyboard clicky sounds. You can either click to see what all the fuss is about or carry on with your work. As soon as a notification appears in some corner of your screen, your eye leaves your current task and looks at it. As helpful as a system notification system can be at times, Growl is a huge productivity killer. As a bonus, Concentrate has a great application icon. So you create the activity, tell Concentrate which applications you want to run (Xcode, TextMate), which distracting sites you want to block (,, ), which applications you want to quit (Twitter, iChat, Mail) and go! It runs all these actions and throws a timer up on your screen to let you know how much time you have left during your set activity. You set up your activities (coding, writing, etc) and the actions associated with them.Įxample: You want to spend 30 minutes coding. This handy little application was built to keep you on a single task. Many people tried to find decent solutions to fixing blinders to your head but not interfere with your workflow. There is a little help out there in the form of software. How does anybody hope to deal with all this noise? How can this amount of activity really be productive? Each of these items can be classified as either a tool or as a point of distraction. Not to mention all the superfluous sites such as Digg, Reddit and YouTube.Īnd all of these things happen at the same time. There are ways of being notified of changes with RSS, Growl, popups, beeps, dings, rings. We have means of communication through AIM, Twitter, SMS, email, blogs and Facebook. More tools are needed for your capabilities to be complete.īut when it comes to digital toolsets, things might have the opposite effect.Īs designers, so many tools are out there to help us build: Photoshop, Illustrator, tutorial sites, inspiration sites. Cars can’t be repaired solely with a flat head screwdriver houses can’t be built with only a hammer in your hand. There is nothing to complain about because it serves the need that it's intended for.The more tools you have at your disposal, the easier it becomes to complete a project. The app is simple, minimalistic, and basic at its core. There isn't much of a learning curve, so in my opinion, you will find it very easy to use. It's a simple writing tool, so there's really nothing to figure out. The sound effects are pretty cool, especially when you use a pair of headphones as you write it's beautiful. Being able to set the kind of background I want while writing actually boosts creative thinking in my opinion because it sets the mood I want to be in for that piece of writing. I enjoy writing with the OmmWriter app especially when creative thinking is required by whatever I'm writing. It's mostly stripped down of all the bells and whistles that you are probably used to if you're switching from other writing apps, but it gets the job done and focuses on the main goal, which is writing. If you want a writing tool that you can make use of when you need your focus to be at its peak, then OmmWriter might be ideal for you. Comentarios: Overall, my experience with OmmWriter has been alright it works as advertised.
